United: The Concert

Yesterday we went to the United concert. I guess there is no need to mention that it was really, really good. It was a good time of worship and we also had fun, for the first time I felt old when all I could see around me were teenagers but that was no biggie. There is not much to say other than we jumped like crazy and sang out loud. On our way out all the kids were waiting for the band at the table to get their autographs, we kept walking and as we passed by the lockers they came out in that moment and I was able to shake their hands, it was pretty cool. I was able to take a few good pictures but I'm going to post the one and only video I shot that night. Hope you like it. The sound is not really that good and you can hear my horrible singing most of the times. By the way we had great seats, we were like eight rows away from the stage.

Hammer, Drill and Blood: The Once in A Lifetime Ordeal of Wisdom Teeth Extraction

After an awesome night at the United concert this morning I had to face my fate of getting my wisdom teeth extracted. Due to several reasons I had to do local anesthesia instead of being sedated, and I have to admit I was a little bit nervous thanks to family and friends who did a great job in discouraging the idea. However I have to say I felt nothing at all, no pain, just the pressure of their hands and tools working in my mouth and the fact that I was awake while they cut, drill, hammer and pulled teeth, of course, we can't ignore the special effects of blood all over the place. It was a good idea to bring my mp3 player and listen to music while they did whatever they do. I was pretty much in my own happy little place. I'm happy to have a Blog because I can only manage to say "Yes" or "No" right now, the anesthesia is starting to wear off and I already swallowed a 600mg of Ibuprofen. Let's see how the pain goes.

And The Twins Win...!

Today we went to the Twins game against the White Sox, the Twins totally rocked the house, it was an exciting game; Minnesota beat Chicago 10-4. My man Santana pitched really good as usual, although he gave away two or three home runs. The whole place was going nuts people screaming all the time, definitely not a boring game. Our seats were good to watch the game, we could see the whole field from where we were but it wasn't close enough for my camera. I was able to take this picture of Johan when he was warming up.

On a different note, this memorial weekend was pretty good, it was nice to have an extra day. We have a busy week ahead of us though. Tomorrow Tuesday we are going to the United concert and on Wednesday I'm getting my wisdom teeth out (ouch!) which will put me out for the next two days. Let's see how it goes.

The People vs. Big Corp

When I read this kind of article only one thing crosses my mind: When are we going to make Big Corp wear a sign that says "I am a thief, I stole from people"?

"Love One Another"

I took this picture today on my way to work. It reminded me of Pastor Rob's series Bumper Stickers. Although the sticker's message was a good message that was not what impacted me the most, instead it was the size and effort put into it, the emphasis. To put a bumper sticker (is that still a bumper sticker?) that size all across your SUV means that you are serious about it or you're a little bit crazy. Anyway I thought it was really interesting and I took a picture of it, I couldn't take a better picture because we were going different ways, but you can still see what I mean (if you click on the picture it will get a little bit bigger).

I have to confess, at some point I was tempted to cut in front of him/her or do some other traffic stupidity to see how much love he/she had :-)

Top 25 Web Hoaxes

"I usually don't forward emails but..." I'm pretty sure you have read that line before. How many times have you received emails that are obviously not real but still that friend of yours forwarded it to everybody? Sometimes I wonder if they were fooled by it or the email was so funny that they forwarded to all of us so we can laugh. Either way, it's not fun to receive forwards. So, before forwarding one of those "this one is for real!" emails make sure you read this article. It lists the top 25 web hoaxes of all time (since the internet was born of course) I think I have seen most of them, except for the one about microsoft and the catholic church and the one about microsoft and firefox. I have to say though that #14, the one about Cellphone GPS Tracking is pretty good. Make sure to check it out, here is the link (This is not appropriate for the easily offended)

I'm Done!

Finally I'm done with school. Today I had my last final for this term...my f-i-r-s-t term!...I still have a lot to go!
It wasn't really that hard. I mean academically it was ok, the hard part was fitting studies with all the other responsibilities and keeping a balance, on top of all that, is my first time back in school after 7 years or so. I don't want to be like some people who do nothing else but study but I don't want to not study and the fail my classes, what then would be the point? So, yea, it was very hard in that sense. I was thinking about taking summer classes but I won't, I really want to enjoy the summer and play ball :-)
Hopefully next term I will be in better shape (academically) and it will go smoother. I enjoyed my classes. I like to learn, don't know why, but I've always been attracted to knowledge. Does that make me a nerd? I guess that will a subject for a different post.

Cool Physics

Physics was my favorite class in J-Hi. Although I'm not very good with maths I like all the logical stuff, I like cool physics experiments, the fun side of it. It's just amazing to realize how complex things are and it just gives you insight of how powerful God is. I found these cool videos of fun physics, hope you like them:

Video 1: This video is pretty cool, is all about gravity and balance baby, and of course if you put a Queen song to it makes it even better :-)

Video 2: I saw a video about non-newtonian liquids and then I found this video where these dudes take it to a whole different level. Now imagine Jesus doing that in the middle of the storm and over water.

Video 3: My friend Tom Poch carried out this cool experiment about boiling water becoming snow when is really cold. The link might be defective so if you really want to see it you might have to go to his blog and look for it.

Video 4: This one I guess it has to do more with mechanics than with physics but is still pretty cool. Those Japs!

United Live

Just by chance I found out that United was coming to town on May 29th. I couldn't believe I didn't hear about it before. So I went online and bought my tickets right away! I'm excited. I haven't been to a concert in quite a while and United rocks. The only thing that got me concerned is that all the tickets are the same price, so I assume seating is first come first served. I guess we are going to have to go very early to be able to get some good seats.

P.S.: This youtube video doesn't have a very good quality but it was free!

Me + CEO + Elevator = Awkward

What do you do when you are in the elevator just you and the CEO of the multi-billion dollar company that you work for? For a five floors ride, what do you do? Do you introduce yourself? I don't wanna be that guy, you know what I mean, that guy who acts all different when big bosses are around.
Do you initiate a conversation? Should there be any conversation at all? Eye contact?...I just experienced what has been so far one of the most awkward moment in my life. I've never met the "man" and I knew it was him because I've looked him up online. I didn't want to say anything, Carolyn says when I'm nervous the only thing that comes out of my mouth are the most awful jokes ever. I was on my way to a meeting and those five floors felt like forever, we both looked down at our shoes. When I got off the elevator I noticed my badge was underneath my shirt so I guess I'm safe, maybe I should cut my hair. :-)
I still don't know what will I do next time that happens...

Season Opener

Last night was my first softball game of the season with the RVC team. I'm really not that good at it but I love to play ball, is a lot of fun. Is one of my favorite sports, pretty much any sport with a name that ends in 'ball' is my favorite sport; 'football' for me is soccer by the way, not NFL. Back to the game, we played two games last night. We lost them both, I think we have a pretty good team, we just get discouraged too easily. Halfway through the first game it poured, to the point that we had to stop. When we started playing again the field was one big puddle of mud. I was dead tired after the game last night but I like that feeling when you are tired after doing physical activities. Anyhow, I'm excited for the games to come and I'm looking forward to have a good time.

Really bad, bad, mean joke.

This is one of those jokes that is so bad that is funny. I mean the joke is not funny, but is so bad that IS funny...on top of that is mean, why do you mess with the easter buuny?

---------
A Bunny Story

Once upon a time there was a man who was peacefully driving down a windy road. Suddenly, a bunny skipped across the road and the man couldn't stop. He hit the bunny head on. The man quickly jumped out of his car to check the scene. There, lying lifeless in the middle of the road, was the Easter Bunny. The man cried out, "Oh no! I have committed a terrible crime! I have run over the Easter Bunny!" The man started sobbing quite hard and then he heard another car approaching. It was a woman in a red convertible. The woman stopped and asked what the problem was.The man explained, "I have done something horribly sad. I have run over the Easter Bunny. Now there will be no one to deliver eggs on Easter, and it's all my fault." The woman ran back to her car. A moment later, she came back carrying a spray bottle. She ran over to the motionless bunny and sprayed it. The bunny immediately sprang up, ran into the woods, stopped, and waved back at the man and woman. Then it ran another 10 feet, stopped, and waved. It then ran another 10 feet, stopped, and waved again. It did this over and over and over again until the man and the woman could no longer see the bunny. Once out of sight, the man exclaimed, "What is that stuff in that bottle?" The woman replied, "It's harespray. It revitalizes hare and adds permanent wave."
