The other day I had to write a review for a school assignment. I decided to do a restaurant because even when I love movies, I don't know all the technical terms or things to look for when reviewing a movie. I heard a lot about this place called
Pizza Luce, so I decided to take my wife on a date and in that way "kill two birds with one shot" like we say in Venezuela.
So here is my very first restaurant review ever in the history of my short life. Hope you like it.

Pizza Luce: You’ll either love it or hate it.
Located on Selby Avenue right off Lexington Avenue, Luce’s location is not the most attractive feature for those looking for cool surroundings; even though is not in a very busy section of Selby, parking can be a hassle. They have a very small alley on the side of the restaurant they call “parking lot” that can be uncomfortable to maneuver your car, that is if you are lucky enough to find a spot.
Luce’s new restaurant just opened in St. Paul, therefore the building is pretty new and clean; very simple decoration with art for sale hanging on the walls. Dim light and electro-alternative-jazz music sets the atmosphere. I got the impression the concept of the restaurant is to target the artsy-alternative crowd but it does a good job catering to the general crowd; whether you are going out with friends, spouse, family or just for a drink, Luce has a place for you.
One of the most talked about characteristics of Luce is the pizza. Make sure you are in the mood for experiencing new flavors; this is not your common pepperoni pizza joint. With names like Garlic Mashed Potato, Shrimp Al Pesto or Baked Potato Pizza you know this is going to be either really good or really bad. They also have a variety of salads, pasta and hoagies and quite a repertoire for veggie lovers. We ordered the Appetizer Sampler and a small Pizza Athena.
The sampler consists of two loaves of really good bread with four dips: Marinara sauce, Spinach artichoke, Sun-dried tomato with olives and bruschetta’s tomato topping; very flavorful selection with a fine taste. I have to recommend the spinach artichoke dip, definitely one of the best.
Very prompt our pizza arrived. The Pizza Athena combines the following ingredients: Fresh spinach, tomato, feta cheese, Calamata olives, artichoke hearts, red onion, Greek oregano and toasted garlic with mozzarella on bianca sauce. At first I wasn’t very excited about it but I have to admit it was a really good pizza despite the absence of any meat products.
The service wasn’t anything worth mentioning. I believe it could have been better. Our waitress wasn’t bad; she just wasn’t making the effort to give us excellent service.
If you are a budget conscious person, Pizza Luce is not the kind of place you go to eat every week let alone everyday, I think our meal was fairly small and we still got a bill for over $30. You might want to save it for a date night or special occasion. It might not even become your favorite restaurant but is worth the experience. I would definitely recommend this place and even go again myself.
